About AstroDeck
Your real-time dashboard for space weather, aurora forecasts, satellite tracking, and astronomical events.
Our Mission
AstroDeck was created to make space data accessible to everyone. We aggregate real-time information from trusted scientific sources like NOAA, NASA, and CelesTrak, presenting it in a clean and intuitive interface. Whether you're an aurora chaser, amateur astronomer, satellite enthusiast, or just curious about what's happening in space, AstroDeck has you covered.
Why Does It Look Like a Terminal?
The first images humanity ever received from space were decoded on dark CRT screens, glowing green phosphor text scrolling across terminals in mission control rooms. From the Voyager telemetry data streaming through JPL consoles in 1977 to the real-time solar wind readings at NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center, the story of space exploration has always been told through terminal interfaces.
AstroDeck's dark, monospaced aesthetic is a deliberate tribute to that legacy. The green-on-black palette isn't just a visual choice — it echoes the phosphor glow of the very screens that tracked Apollo missions, decoded the first satellite signals, and still today monitor the Sun's activity in real-time. When you read a KP index value here, you're seeing it the way space weather operators have for decades.
> We believe that data from the cosmos deserves an interface that respects its origin — raw, focused, and beautifully minimal. No distractions. Just you and the universe.
